• Ok, generally what are Nimi Places?

  With Nimi Places You can show desired locations on Your desktop either in form of Places - vertically scrollable boxex with items pin to grid - or Paths - horizontally scrollable boxes with items in one row.

  Nimi Places allows to quickly organize files and desktop - by displaying desired locations like folders or drives on desktop in special skinable boxes. Those have such features like smooth scrolling support, file labels, file sorting and more. User can choose from places(multiline vertically scrollable) and paths(one line horizontally scrollable).

  Application is portable and doesn't require installation. It uses own image thumbnailing and caching to bring high quality image thumbnails and better performance of elements display.

  Settings for each path or place displayed on desktop are individual - those can have different skins, graphic filters(like sepia or blur) or for example item size. Those, if capable, can have such interaction behaviour: always opaque, opaque on mouse hoover or opaque when desktop is focused and activated.

• I am beginner User is it for me?

  Accessability is one of the main goals for all Nimi projects development - that is why those are always intended to be very simple and intuitive to use from very start. As long as You know basics of computer usage and read what's on screen - You should be fine with using Nimi Places.

  We want to bring all Users the same experience when using our projects - that is why even experienced Users can enjoy using Nimi Places. With all of its features - it is really easy to find something that appeal to one and could help to boost one productivity and enviroment look at the same time.

  • Directory elements counter can help to manage image, audio or just file collections.
  • Labels can help to organize files by separating them into different categories like private or work.
  • Selecting different visibility behaviour for places might be useful to categorize those.
  • Inbuilt note taking feature - saving pasted content like text files or images - can be useful when collecting material for one work, or just taking notes.
  • Creating places using collector from system conext menu
  • As places and paths are scrolled and with scalable items - those could contain more elements than non-scrolled container at the same space usage - which can be useful for reducing screen usage.

• Will there be any whistles, animations and fireworks?

  Boundry between usability and look is very thick. Since August 2008 Nimi Projects is developing Nimi Visuals - very unique windows effects and customization engine - which gave us a lot of experience in terms of - we believe - creating visually attractive applications, which at the same time offer high performance as required from demanding computer customization interested Users. We believe that Nimi Places benefits greatly from those experiences.

• What if used it in past and wasn't impressed?

  We try to update our project very often. Since first version of Nimi Places being released to public in April to August 2010 - it had like about 10 updates already, from which almost each one introduced milestone changes, new features and improved performance. We would like to please all Users and are constantly working to improve usage experience and projects reception - so we will feel honoured if You decide to try it again.
